If you are coming to Takayama,
don't leave without trying the two,
Dango & Gohei mochi.
They are both made of rice.
Dango is dumplings on a skewer made with rice flour.
You will find dango everywhere in Japan,
but the one here is particularly soft and delicious!!
The uniqueness of the dango here is that
many are flavored just with soy sauce.
In other regions, it is likely that dango is flavored with something sweet.
Gohei mochi is also delicious and you should
definitely try the "egoma flavored gohei mochi."
Egoma is perilla seeds and the seed contains omega 3 oil.
There is a shop called Fukutaro nearby where I work
and they have the most delicious egoma flavored gohei mochi!!
When you are traveling,
you should always give it a try
and challenge the local taste!!
There is a lot to learn from them even if they aren't your favorite!!

高山に来たら、絶対に食べて欲しいのが
やはり、お団子と五平餅!
こちらに来て4年、
一体何本のお団子を食べたことでしょう 笑。
最初の頃にも書きましたが、
こちらの「みたらし」はシンプルな醤油味、
砂糖は入っていないので、イメージとしては
焼きおにぎりのようです。
これがハマる味なんです。。
そして、エゴマの五平餅も忘れないでね!
職場の近くにある「福太郎」さんの五平餅は絶品です。
旅に出たら、
苦手そうなものでも
何でも食べてみるべし!
そこから学ぶ事も多いですよね。
食と文化は切っても切り離せませんから。
