ゲストハウス＆カフェ「SOY」 Guest House & Cafe "SOY"

Guest House & Cafe "SOY" will be opening
on the coming 3rd of March, 2015.

The owner kindly gave us the opportunity
to tour inside the guest house before opening.

It is located 4km north of Takayama railway station.
If you are looking for a convenient,
close-to-the-station guest house to stay
this may not be the place for you.
BUT if you are willing to experience and feel the beauty of
a one-hundred-year-old Japanese style house,

you should definitely stay at this guest house.
They will surprise you in so many ways

with their warmest welcome and I assure you that you will be

coming to Japan the next time just to visit SOY again : )

If you are lucky enough,
you will see the beautiful mountains spreading ahead from
the dining & cafe.

Their rooms have "tatami," Japanese-style straw mats
and a night of relaxing sleep is assured.
(I said "a night" but I'm sure you want to spend more

than a night.  You will probably need at least 3 days here!!)

If your budget allows, you should definitely try the "Kura-Room."
"Kura" is a Japanese word for warehouse or storehouse.

In the old days, "Kura" was built in the garden of the houses
separated from the main building; however, I was explained that
in later days, "Kura" was placed at the side of the houses
under the same roof to avoid thefts.

The "Kura" of SOY is right at the west corner of the house.
It's a cozy two-story-guest-room,
having its own bathroom and a bedroom on the first floor,
and a dining room on the second floor.

Chatting with the host family is what you certainly shouldn't miss!!
They are not only warm and welcoming,
but are willing to help your stay in Takayama become the most memorable one.

Now, I'm sounding like their PR staff, ha-ha.
You can tell how much I love the place!!

来る３月３日に、
ゲストハウス＆カフェ　「ＳＯＹ」がオープンします。

オープン前にゲストハウス内を見学させていただきました。

高山駅から４キロほど北へ行ったところにあるＳＯＹは
便利な場所にある、とは言い難いですが
駅から少し離れている分、他の利点もあり、
わざわざ訪れる価値のあるゲストハウスです。
築１００年の古民家でしか味わえない癒しとくつろぎを
是非経験していただきたいです。

運が良ければ、ダイニングスペースから
美しい乗鞍岳を一望することができます。

少し予算に余裕がある時は、「蔵」のお部屋がおすすめです。

「蔵」と聞くと、独立した建物をイメージしますが、
泥棒対策で、いつからかか母屋につなげて
建てるようになったそうです。SOYの蔵はこちらのタイプです。

*2021年現在は「こまめ」（別棟）もあります！

メゾネットタイプのお部屋で、１階にバス＆トイレ＆ベッドルーム、
２階には広いダイニングスペースがあります。

SOYを訪れたら、オーナーさんご家族との「おしゃべり」も
また楽しみのひとつになることでしょう。
ゲストハウスへのこだわりと愛をたくさん語ってくださいます。
