we found so many whitish butterflies
that we had never seen before.
We later found out that the butterfly is called
"Usuba Shiro-cho" and it is a specie that lives in a
high altitude environment.
When trying to search for its English name,
I found a marvelous blog that talks about this specific butterfly.
And its English name is "Glacial Apollo."
It is a family of Apollo Butterfly that are found in Europe, it says.
Yes!! their wings are a bit transparent like a glass or an ice
and that is probably why it has such beautiful name.
It is always so much fun to encounter
different species in different environment.
"Everyday things" for the locals are
sometimes so new, inspiring, and attractive to others.
数日前、清見付近へ出かけました。
そこで、モンシロチョウでもない、アゲハでもない、
その中間のような、白っぽい蝶を発見！！
後で調べると
それは、「ウスバシロチョウ」と言う、
山地に生息する蝶だそうです。
英語名を調べようと検索していたところ
おもしろいブログを見つけました。
「虫の名前を英語では」
ウスバシロチョウの英語名は「Glacial Apollo（氷河のアポロ）」だそうです。
そう！！白い半透明の美しい羽を持つこの蝶にぴったりの名前ですね。
ところ変われば、住む昆虫も違います。
清見付近の方々にとっては
モンシロチョウ蝶同様、この時期には
当たり前に目にする景色の一部なのでしょう。
私たちは、ウスバシロチョウのその独特で優雅な舞いが
あまりにもめずらしく、
立ち止まって観察せずにはいられませんでした。
