Do you remember my post about having a photo shooting at SOY
in Takayama?

We have to thank Mr. Sakaue, the photographer, again for
the most precious photos that he took for us
on our very last "interview lesson" at the Miyagawa Morning Market
right before leaving Takayama.

We spent the whole morning walking around the morning market
as usual, and he followed us and took the photos of the girls and boys
trying to talk in English with the tourists.

The tourists are always so nice to the kids
and all the kids enjoyed their challenge.
It is great to have photos of such precious moments!!

In my next post, I am going to introduce Mr. Sakaue's beautiful works.

覚えているでしょうか、
高山へ行って間もない頃、
お気に入りのＳＯＹさんにて
出張カメラマンの阪上さんに写真撮影をしていただいた事を
以前書かせていただきました。

カメラマンの阪上さんに感謝感謝です。
実は、高山を去る直前、英語キッズとの最後の
インタビューレッスンにて、同行撮影をしていただいたのです。

午前中、宮川朝市をずっと行ったり来たりしながら
海外からの観光客に一生懸命語りかけるキッズの姿を
かっこよく撮影してくださいました。

海外の方は、いつも子供たちのチャレンジを
優しく見守ってくださり、そんな姿を写真に残すことができ
とても感激しています。

次回は、阪上さんの美しい作品をいくつかご紹介したいと思います。
お楽しみに☆

一期一会 treasure every encounter, for it will never occur

I was at the railway station on Sunday
waiting for my customers to arrive.

A tall man, who looked like a tourist, was taking a lot of pictures
of the station while waiting for the train.
A lot of pictures, fine, but why pictures of pillars
why pictures of that tiny hanging sign?
I was wondering.

While I was thinking about a lot of things,
an announcement said that the train we were waiting for had been delayed
just for 5 minutes, and of course, 5 minutes didn't matter so much to me,
but since the announcement was made only in Japanese,
I decided to inform the man about it.

I found out in our conversation that he works for a railway company, SBB,
in Switzerland and that was exactly why he was taking
a lot of pictures, even pictures of signs and pillars.

We had such a wonderful conversation just in 5 or 10 minutes
that our good-byes were
"see you perhaps in Switzerland!!"

He gave me a bar of Swiss chocolate
when he left and I felt so bad I wasn' carrying anything with me  :(

Anyways, there is a Japanese saying
"ichigo-ichie," treasure every encounter, for it will never occur,
I always feel that in such a small world,
it MAY occur!!
but still, I always, keep this in mind.

We should keep in mind that
same thing can be said for "moments" as well.

This is what I love about living in Takayama,
there are so many unforgettable encounters!!

 日曜日、駅のホームでお客様をお待ちしていると
目の前で、外国人の男性が大量の写真を撮っていました。

柱の写真？？？何に興味があるのかしら？
色々な妄想が頭の中をぐるぐるしている中、
突然アナウンスが流れ、私たちが待っている電車が５分遅れる、
とのことでした。
ただ、日本語のみのアナウンスでしたので、
その男性にも念のためにお知らせしました。

５分の遅れでアナウンスするなんて
さすが日本だね！という会話から始まり
話を聞いてみると、その男性はスイスの連邦鉄道ＳＢＢの方だと
言うこと判明しました。
「それで、柱の写真まで！！」と納得。

10分足らずでしたが、なんとも楽しい時間で、
その方とのお別れは
「次はスイスでお会いしましょう！」でした。

その際、
「素敵な時間をありがとう」
とスイスのチョコレートまでいただいたのです。

一期一会、
私の大好きな言葉です。
高山で出会う、多くの観光客さんとは
本当にその時だけ、になってしまうことが多いのですが、
いつも、その都度、
短い時間だからこそ、たくさんの言葉と心を交わしたい！
というのが、私の願いと目標です。

チョコレートをいただいて、
さらにハッピー、アハハ、現金な私です。

家に戻り、子供たちとそのハッピーを分かち合いました♪

高山で暮らしていると
そんな楽しいことがたくさん起きます。
そうそう、それと同時に、
素敵な出会いがあった時に、記念に♪と
渡せる何かを私も持ち歩こうかなぁ。

あめちゃんを持ち歩く大阪のおばちゃんをマネしてみよう　笑。

テレビ取材を受けました♪ we were on TV

I took my students out to the morning market

several times again, at the beginning of 

the summer vacation, for an English speaking activity

and we were broadcasted on a local TV program!!

Kids are really having a great time communicating 

with the tourists

and I, myself, enjoy talking to them as well!!

English, for me, is such a strong tool that 

enables me to just walk up to anyone 

and begin conversations with them.

I truly wish that kids learn how joyful

it is to encounter many people from around the world

and stay curious about the world around them!!

Anyone, even adults, are welcome to join us anytime!!

夏休みも、子供たちと朝市へ出かけ

何度か「外国人突撃インタビュー」を行いました。

なんと、テレビ取材も受けたんですよ♪

子供たちはあっと言う間に

外国人に話しかけることに慣れていきます。

私自身、各国の方々との出会いが

楽しみで仕方がありません！

私にとって、「英語」は

このうえなく便利な道具、

目の前を通る、どんな見た目の方にでも

話しかけてみよう！と背中を押してくれる

心強い道具です。

子供たちにも、

伝わることの楽しさを体験してもらい、

もっと聞きたい、

もっと知りたい、

と感じてもらえたら嬉しいです。

大人の方も大歓迎、

一緒にインタビューに出かけませんか？　＾＾
