"Tezutsu Fireworks Festival (A hand held fireworks)" is held in Takayama.
This year was the 32nd time to hold the event.
August 9, in Japanese, can be read "yaku"
which means bad luck or misfortune.
Takayama holds this fireworks event on this specific day
in wishes to get rid of everyone's bad lucks and misfortunes!!
A cylindrical shaped fireworks are being hand-held by
both men and women registered in the hand held fireworks team.
First, they lay down the firework on tatami,
then an assistant lights the firework,
the audience gives a cheer,
the holder then lifts up the firework up straight,
the firework keeps shooting up sparks,
finally the firework gives an explosive sound
and again, the audience cheers and gives a round of applause.
Shamisen (a three stringed Japanese music instrument)
and Japanese drums are played at the back
which enhances the thrill of the fireworks.
We brought our onigiri (rice balls)
and enjoyed the beautiful, thrilling and powerful fireworks!!
Such hand-held fireworks are held everywhere in Japan,
but this was the first time for us to watch it.
We are definitely going for a better place next year!!
高山では毎年８月９日に
「手筒花火大会」が開催されます。
今年は３２回目の開催でした。
８月９日（やく）にちなんで
厄払いの意味を込めて行うそうです。
筒状の花火を
高山手筒花火組の所属する
総勢４０名ほどが
両手で持ち、花火を打ち上げます。
まず、
手筒花火を会場の畳の上に置きます。
横のアシスタントの方が花火に点火します。
この次に会場が「おーーーー」という歓声を上げ
その後、花火を持ち上げます。
手筒花火からは火の粉が空高く上がり、
大きな爆発音と共に花火が終了します。
最後はもちろん、観客の完成と拍手で会場が沸きます。
バックでは三味線と太鼓の演奏が流れ
花火をさらに盛り上げます。
会場におにぎりを持参し、
迫力満点の手筒花火を満喫してきました。
全国各地で手筒花火は開催されていますが、
実は間近で見たのは初めてでした。
今年はあまりいい席が取れませんでしたが、
来年はもっと気合いを入れて早い時間に会場に向かうぞ！！
