あじか Ajika

There are several vegetable markets we love and "Ajika" is one of them.

It is located in Kokufu, about 10 minutes drive from our place.

 

"Good morning,

says the vegetables

but are all gone

in the afternoon"

 

this was written on a carboard at the market.

 

And this is so true!!

We should always go there early in the morning!!

 

色々なマーケットで野菜を買いますが、

隣町の国府にある「あじか」にもよくでかけます。

 

「おはよう！と

　　　　並んだ野菜　

　　　　　　　　　夕に無し」

 

ダンボールにこんなことが書いてありました　笑。

 

その通り！！

ここを訪れる場合は、朝の早めの時間がオススメです。

 



 

 

ラベンダーシーズン到来♪ it's the lavendar season♪

It's the lavendar season again!!
The ODA farm has opened on June 10th
and we've already went to pick the lavendars twice this year!!

The price is only 100 yen for 70 g of lavendar!!

The nice aroma lasts for more than a year!!

Lavendar picking → a delicious curry lunch nearby is
a perfect dating course that I often enjoy with my friend!!

今年はすでに2度も訪れました。

そして、その香りは一年経ってもまだ残っているのです。

大好きな景色 the view I love

This is what Takayama looks like
here and there
everywhere right now.

greens of trees and mountains

Rainy season has already started
but the sunny days inbetween are just too beautiful.

梅雨の真っただ中ではありますが、
合間の晴れの日が美しすぎやしませんか。

やわい屋 Yawai-ya

"Yawau" means to arrange and to prepare in the dialogue of this region.

Yawai-ya is located near the Uzue Waterfalls, a beautiful rural town.
Right in front is a rice paddy and at the back is a mountain,
they both add an artistic spice to make a masterpiece.

The house is 150 years old.

It is worth visiting just to see the architecture.

Yawai-ya sells porcelains and handicrafts carefully selected by the owner.

I have been there only twice
but a very friendly and welcoming owner makes me feel like
I had known him (and her) for a long time.

I hope you enjoy visiting Yawai-ya
like going to a museum.

plus the lots of interesting locals who visits the place!!

隣町の国府に「やわい屋」がオープンしました。

「やわう」とは、
飛騨弁でしたくをする、という意味だそうです。

やわい屋のある、国府宇津江は
とにかく穏やかで緑が美しいところ。
お店の前には田んぼが広がり、バックには山、
全てを合わせて一つの完璧なる作品になるわけです。

150年の古民家。

この古民家を見せていただくだけでも
訪れる価値があります。

オーナーさんがセレクトした民藝品と陶器を扱うお店。

まだ二度しか訪れたことがないのに、
フレンドリーなオーナーさんのお陰で
なんだかずっとずっと昔から
知り合いだったかのような
居心地の良さで（勝手に）
ついつい長居をしてしまいます。

美術館を訪れるように
やわい屋さんを訪れてください。
素敵なオーナーさんとの会話を楽しんでください。
そこに集まる楽しい地元の方々との出会いもありますよ。

ある日クッキングスタジオにて one day at the cooking studio

At the cooking studio where I work,
we always discuss about the new menus,
about the seasonal vegetables,
about the popular local recipes,
and so on and so on.

What's common about the topics?
They're always about food and drinks.

When there are no lessons,
we sometimes buy several seasonal vegetables from the market
and try some new recipes!!

We never forget to try several sake and check
what menues go well with the local sake selections.

Gee, aren't we such hard workers??? ha-ha.

And, anyone's welcome to walk in!!
When you find the staffs tying some recipes and sake,
feel free to step inside the kitchen.
Why not have some chat over a few sake and some local food!!

今日の高山 2016年6月3日 Takayama today June 3, 2016

It was so cooooold this morning.
No, not this morning.
Yesterday morning to be exact.

The temperature was about 5 degrees Celsius!!

We want to put away our winter blankets since it's June already
but there are morning like yesterday, you know.
We even turned on the heater yesterday morning.

Winter blankets and heaters cannot be put away until June in Takayama.

Then, it suddenly becomes hot.
But after 3 or 4 months, we will be feeling the winter breeze
in the mornings and in the evenings.

It was cold in the morning but it was such a beutiful day yesterday!!

朝、寒かった～～。
今朝ではありません、
昨日の朝です。（6月3日）

朝の気温は５℃だったそうです。

冬の布団をしまいたいのに、
これだから困るんです。
暖房もつけましたよ。

高山では6月になっても、暖房、冬布団が片づけられないわけです。

そして、急に暑くなる。
でも３、４か月後には
また冬のニオイがしてくるのです。

昨日、
とても寒い朝でしたが、
なんとも気持ちのいい美しい日でした。

骨董うどん皿 an old udon bowl

I love to collect dishes.
My collection is not that huge
and I have no knowledes at all about antiques
but I just love them!!

There are many antique shops in the old town area.
I have shown the tiny sake cups that I bought before.
They are so tiny that you will have to pour sake every 2 seconds : )

A couple of weeks I go, I found the most beautiful bowl.
I wasn't  sure what they were, but I simply fell in love with its color and its shape.
The shop owner told me that the bowl was designed to eat udon.

The bowl is only about half the size of present udon bowl.
Is it because people in the old days had smaller appetite?
I'm not sure but I'm using it for a completely non-Japanese food.
Avocado & tomato salad, ha-ha.

I should cook something more traditional!!

But I love the color contrast.
What would you put in such beautiful bowl?

器が好きなんです。
決してたくさん収集しているわけではありません。
知識も全くありません。
でも好きなんです。

街にはたくさんの骨董屋があります。
以前おちょこをいくつか買いました。
とても小さくて、2秒おきにお酒を注がないと間に合いません　笑。

数週間前、素敵な器を見つけました。
何に使われていたものか、不明でしたがとにかく色と形を気に入り購入。
お店の方に尋ねると、うどん皿だったということが分かりました。

現在の麺用の器の半分くらいのサイズなんです。（深さが）
昔の人は小食だったのかな？
などなど100年以上前の食卓をイメージしながら
全くもって和風じゃないものを並べてみました。
アボカド＆トマトのサラダ、　あはは。

もっと和風なものを調理しなくては。

でも、意外とこの色のコントラストが好きだったりもします。
