Few weeks ago, my daughter brought back a handout
from her school which said,
"things to keep in mind on snowy days."
Children usually go to school (elementary) by walk.
They always have to watch out for cars and bikes of course,
but there are other things to keep in mind on snowy days.
1. Keep out of piled snow.
You don't know what's under it. There may be a hole,a ditch, and
other dangers under the snow.
2. Do not walk under the edges of a roof.
Icicles may fall from the roof.
3. Do not make a sudden move because you may slip
and cars may also slip trying to avoid you.
4. Do not make a move until the car actually stops even when your traffic signal turns green,
for the cars may slip when attempting to stop.
So true.
Not just children, we all have to keep these in mind!!
By the way, one more thing,
all the lines on road are totally covered by snow
so divers, riders, and pedestrians, all have to guess where your lanes are.
数週間前、娘が学校から
「雪の日に気をつけること」と書かれた
おたよりをもらってきました。
通学の際は、もちろんいつでも車や自転車に
気を付けなければなりません。
でも、雪の日はまた別の「注意事項」があるようです。
１． 雪が積んであるところに近寄らない。
雪の下に溝や穴があるかもしれません。
２． 屋根の下は歩かないようにしましょう。
氷柱が落ちてくる場合があります。
３． 転びやすいので、急に走りだしたり、飛び出したりするような動きはやめましょう。
避けようとして車も滑ってしまう可能性があります。
４． たとえ信号が青でも、車が停まったのを確認してから、道を横断しましょう。
本当に！！
子供だけでなく、みんなが気を付けなければなりまりません。
そして、もうひとつ
道路に積雪があるということは
道路上のラインが全く見えないということ。
道路事情がわからない場所に来ると、右折レーンがあるのか、
何車線の道なのかすらわかりません。
運転手も歩行者も皆自分の走る（歩く）べき位置を予想しながら
進むしかないわけですね。
